Battery Maintenance
Hybrid models often have a hybrid battery system that needs to be taken care of differently than a normal battery. It still powers the vehicle but plays a larger role. Ensuring your car’s battery is properly functional is going to require frequent tests and inspections so that you can confirm that it isn’t leaking any acid or is starting to wear down. Most hybrid batteries have a longer lifespan and can be covered by manufacturer warranties. These components last about 100,000 miles or 8 years, depending on whether you drive a lot or not.
Tire and Brake Services
Another thing that’s different about hybrid vehicles is the distinct tire and brake care you need to schedule for them. The tires may need to be looked at with more frequency because of the additional weight they have. This can mean that your tires’ tread markings will wear out. Also, most hybrid cars offer a special regenerative braking system that absorbs the kinetic energy from the moving rotor and injects this additional energy into the battery so that you have an additional mileage available. This system needs to be checked so it’s working properly and your rotor will need to be checked regularly to ensure its integrity makes it functional.
Regular Vehicle Maintenance
There are some elements that don’t change between hybrid and gas engine vehicles. You will still need to check the condition of the engine oil so it is still able to lubricate the moving parts of the powertrain. Fluid flushes for your brake lines, coolant, and battery coolant will be necessary so there are no blockages that can be detrimental to the function of your car. Your Lexus will also require regular tire rotations and brake inspections so the pads are still good and your tires are able to grip the road properly. “ I have been coming to this particular lexus for 4 years and I will not be coming back. First of all it is extremely hard to talk to a human or my representative never answers the phone or returns my call. Today in particular, my tire keeps going flat. I went to NTB because I could not reach anyone at Lexus. The NTB said these tires are very new and you probably have a warranty, I said I do. He said call your dealer to make sure it will not mess you up if you get it fixed here. My husband called and spoke with Matthew, he said it was okay to have it plugged, my husband asked for that in writing. Then he said why didnt I bring it to lexus and my husband said bc no one answers the phone. Matthew said that we could bring the car. We are on the same street as the Lexus, I get there 12 minutes later. Ask for Matthew and they say he is at lunch. I ask for someone else and they said they are not seeing anyone else. After waiting 30 minutes I decided to leave because they said Matthew is still at lunch and dont know when he is coming back. I expect far more professionalism, communication, and basic customer support from Lexus personel. ”
